Where do scraps come from?
The central junkyard is the main scavenging area. Explore the middle of the map, collect available scrap materials, then carry them back to your personal base. Keep an eye out for different scrap types, since some may be needed for specific compressor recipes.

The Trash Compressor transforms specific combinations of scraps into a compressed block. Once created, take the block to your base and place it like other income-generating items. Compressed blocks are designed to earn more money than the scraps used to make them.
